Every week during the Kansas high school football regular season, I submit my media poll votes and share them with my X followers and Railer Report subscribers. Storylines for key rankings decisions can be found below.
Olathe North!
Despite their loss to 6A No. 1 Gardner-Edgerton, the Eagles enter my top 10 after taking the Trailblazers into deep water before falling to 4-1. Olathe North’s resume going into Friday wasn’t enough to satisfy the Esch Index to be ranked, but its performance speaks volumes to me about how dangerous the Eagles may be come playoff time.
Who wants to be 4A No. 1?
Bishop Miege and St. Thomas Aquinas will square off this week with the top spot in 4A up for grabs. I’ve consistently ranked the Stags No. 1, though with the Saints playing at home, it’s anyone’s guess what the final score will look like. Regardless of the outcome, there will still exist a considerable gap between these two powerhouses and the rest of the 4A field.
Skyrocketing Moundridge…
Moundridge has burst onto the scene as a top-five team in 8M-I after a notable 38-point win over Little River. Now at 5-0, the Wildcats have outscored their opponents 250-32 this season. The middle of this classification continues to be one of the most entertaining across all levels.
