Media Poll Votes: Post-Week 4
Gardner-Edgerton and Kapaun Mt. Carmel move up to No. 1 in 6A and 5A.
Every week during the Kansas high school football regular season, I submit my media poll votes and share them with my X followers and Railer Report subscribers. Storylines for key rankings decisions can be found below.
So… 6A…
Finally, Gardner-Edgerton receives my first-place vote in 6A, as I didn’t want to remove Manhattan from that spot until the Indians had a result to warrant it (they lost to Washburn Rural last week). Due to calibration at the midway point of the season and my uptick in reliance on the Esch Index, Olathe North drops out of my rankings and Blue Valley West slides in.
New No. 1 in 5A!
Kapaun Mt. Carmel takes over my top spot in 5A, though I elected to not punish Mill Valley too much for losing to Gardner-Edgerton — though I wanted to see the Jaguars be (at least) competitive with the Trailblazers. Liberal joins my rankings at No. 9 after last week’s win to improve the Redskins to 4-0.
3A through 8M-II stays… quiet?
There wasn’t much shuffling in my rankings from 3A down to 8M-II, with the only notable upset being Chase County’s 46-0 blowout of Burlingame, which drops the Bearcats all the way to No. 10 in 8M-I after sitting at No. 5 this time last week. 8M-II saw a few matchups between ranked teams, but the results only forced a flip at the bottom between Frankfort and Dighton.
