Every week during the Kansas high school football regular season, I submit my media poll votes and share them with my X followers and Railer Report subscribers. Storylines for key rankings decisions can be found below.
They said it couldn’t be done!
Yes, you read that 8M-II ranking correctly. Canton-Galva fell to Little River, 42-40, last Friday. Because of that result, Osborne has leapfrogged the Eagles into the No. 2 spot — which marks the first time since I became a voter Canton-Galva isn’t No. 1 or No. 2.
Early favorites in 6A East?
Gardner-Edgerton, which returned a majority of its 2022 roster that put together a trip to the state championship game against Manhattan, throttled Shawnee Mission East on Thursday night by 35 points. This result saw the Blazers move up four spots in my rankings. They will likely continue to nip the heels of Manhattan, waiting for the Indians to slip up.
1A scramble…
In a wild small-school week one slate, Olpe lost by 34, Inman lost by 24, and Conway Springs lost to Garden Plain. The question is now who wants the No. 2 through No. 5 spots? St. Mary’s Colgan takes the reins at the top after an impressive 27-20 victory over 3A Frontenac.
